She was first employed as a bodyguard by Tiamae at the 1094 Gathering. In 1095, she was similarly engaged by Wolfgar. She is seen here in a less beligerant and even perhaps arty moment

We think the Sheikh is a bloke, but its hard to tell with snakes..... From the far south, across water, where its all very sandy. In charge of a tribe or something. Joined up with Dan'nathur at the Nights Dawn and stayed around all over the Summer. Went to sleep throught the Winter ... somewhere.

Come the Spring of '99 it became clear the Sheikh is actually female. And experiences "multiple personalities", due, allegedly, to having eaten the brains of all her tribe members on some long journeys, and them now all babbling away in her head.

Mara first appaeared at the Gathering 1099AF. She had lived for as long as she can (now) remember at one of the chapels of the Inheritors Of Belegûr which operates in the Bear inhabited parts of Orkneyjar.

Although she believes herself not to be Celtic, she does have a soft local brogue.

She came to meet her leaders (Jax-Ur and Wolfgar) and to discuss with them the prophecies she reads into various of the order's writings.
